The Co-operative Insurance and Co-operative Investments

We are responsible for investing over £20bn of customers' money and in 2005 it became the world's first insurance company to introduce a customer mandated Ethical Engagement Policy. The Policy provides us with a customer mandate to engage with companies in which we invest in order to improve their behaviour in social, environmental and ethical matters.

In 2006 The Co‑operative Insurance became the UK's first insurer to launch an Eco-Motor Insurance policy, offering customer discounts on ‘greener’ cars and the opportunity to offset the environmental impact of their driving.

As well as motor insurance, we offer life assurance and home insurance, pensions, investments, protection products, unit trusts and ISAs.

Unlike most of our competitors, we have a network of qualified Financial Advisers who offer professional, trusted, financial planning advice on our range of products, some products from The Co‑operative Bank, as well as products from a limited number of other companies, into the homes of customers.

We are also making other changes - CIS will become known as The Co-operative Insurance, and The Co-operative Investments has been formed as a new brand.
