grassroots sports
supporting the game at all levels
We believe that introducing children to sport at a young age and keeping them involved is vitally important to their development; it gives them the opportunity to get regular exercise, learn about teamwork and develop social and sporting skills, all whilst having a really great time.
The Co-operative Insurance has been investing in football for four decades. It runs an extensive programme of grassroots initiatives throughout the UK, including football coaching and the provision of kits and equipment to junior teams. Since 1999, football kits have been provided to more than 3,800 youth football teams and more than 17,000 children have benefited from football coaching! The Co-operative Insurance Football Development Centres in Northern Ireland provided weekly football coaching for more than 8,500 children last year alone.
The Co-operative is also partnering Activate Sport, so that thousands of young people can benefit from free places at their camps and at the specialist academies of sporting stars such as Andrew Flintoff, Matt Dawson and Lee Westwood.
And we're supporting StreetGames, a national charity which enables young people in disadvantaged areas to take part in sport.
