opportunities
offering opportunities
that make a tangible
difference to a
young person’s life
From gaining qualifications, experience and self-belief, to bringing about change in their communities, we're offering opportunities for young people to make real differences to their lives
The Co-operative Apprenticeship Academy is a new £9 million scheme, that is set to benefit 2,000 young people.
Truth About Youth, The Co-operative Foundation’s new grants programme, is aiming to challenge and change widespread negative perceptions about young people.
The Co-operative StreetGames Young Volunteers will see 3,000 young people receive training to coach sport to children in disadvantaged areas.
Through
The Co-operative British Youth Film Academy (BYFA), students learn filmmaking from the professionals, providing them with the skills to communicate through film. And, at
The
Co-operative Film Festival, young people are given the platform to showcase their creativity and communicate their vision for change.
Our
Charity of the Year partnership for 2011 will see 20,000 young people with a learning disability inspired to change their world.
We're opening up opportunities for young people to enjoy
sport, including kitting out 60,000 budding football stars with strips, and sponsoring the Netball Superleague and Activate Sport academies. We’re also encouraging young people’s passion for
music; our sponsorship of the British Music Experience at the O2 Arena is enabling 15,000 young people to visit the venue for free.

Background
We serve local communities through some 5,000 stores and branches up and down the country, from inner-city areas, to leafy suburbs and rural villages. In fact, we have a store in every postal area bar one. We offer additional support through a range of community grants and projects with a direct local impact.
