Enterprise Hub's North West Launch is Great Success

The official launch of the Enterprise Hub in the North West proved to be a great success on Tuesday, with over 50 people in attendance at the Friends Meeting House in Manchester.

Having appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio Manchester earlier in the day, Michael Fairclough, the Co-operative Group's Head of Community and Campaigns, spoke about the achievements of the Hub so far as well as its aims for the future.

Local co-operatives Glebelands City Growers and Sunshine Care gave inspirational talks about the benefits of starting a co-op.

The day also provided an opportunity to publicise Principle 6, a new networking organisation that is looking to encourage co-operation between co-operatives. It's hoped that there will now be a Principle 6 networking event at every event run by Co-operatives North West from now on.

Co-operatives North West also held its AGM at the event, electing a board of 12 people.

Jo Bird, who organised the launch, said: "The launch went brilliantly and provides a great platform for the Enterprise Hub to go on to greater things. Both Glebelands City Growers and Sunshine Care demonstrated exactly what a co-op can do, and we hope the Hub will encourage many more to make the rewarding leap and join the co-operative movement."

Thanks also to another local co-op, The Eighth Day, which provided the food on the day.
