The Co-operative Enterprise Hub launches in Scotland
On Friday, The Co-operative Enterprise Hub were delighted to announce the launch of its Scottish presence during an event in Glasgow.
The Hub, which provides support for the creation and growth of member-owned enterprises, was unveiled by Angela Davies, head of The Co-operative initiative. The Enterprise Hub, which began 2011 with a set of ambitious targets, will now provide the same level of support and guidance to Scottish communities as it has been doing in England since its creation in 2009.
The launch event also saw a presentation from Jim O' Neil from the Fenwick Weaver Co-operative, a member-owned organisation which has existed for over 250 years.
Peter Marks, Group Chief Executive of The Co-operative said:
"We are seeing more and more people setting-up, running and growing member-owned enterprises as consumers take ownership into their own hands and, have a say in the running of businesses and services that meet the demands of local communities.
"Contributing to a more balanced and sustainable economy, the co-operative business model is again seen as a modern, effective and relevant approach to business and has, without doubt, an exciting part to play in fostering future enterprise."
It's been a rewarding few weeks for The Enterprise Hub; the recent Join The Revolution campaign included a number of organisations which have benefited from our support and guidance, notably Oxford Cycle Co-operative and FC United of Manchester.
