Unicorn Grocery claims Manchester Food and Drink award

The Co-operative Enterprise Hub was delighted to see Unicorn Grocery, one of the co-operatives we've supported in the past, claim an award at the annual Manchester Food and Drink Festival this week.

Unicorn Grocery, situated on Albany Road in Chorlton, picked up the gong for Best Food and Drink Outlet at a gala dinner, hosted at the Hilton Hotel in Manchester city centre. The store was up against some stiff competition for the award, battling against fellow co-operative Eighth Day Café as well as the likes of Zest, Winos, POD and Hickson & Blacks.

The grocery has been supplying locally grown, organic produce since 2006, although the award from the Food and Drink Festival is not the first for the co-operative. In 2008, Unicorn was voted the 'Best Independent Shop' by The Observer Food Monthly.

Here at the Co-operative, we'd like to extend our warmest congratulations to Unicorn Grocery for their latest accolade and wish them many more awards in the future.
