Business Crime Partnerships

Business Crime Reduction Partnerships (BCRP) - bring retailers and businesses together with police and local authority representatives to exchange information on known offenders. Partnerships provide support, intelligence, crime reduction advice and practical help to prevent or deal with crime. The Co-operative Group take part in initiatives in participating areas including radio link schemes between retailers and businesses as well as the sharing of crime prevention advice
Co-operative trading premises throughout the country are activity participating in numerous business crime partnerships that operator in the area they trade. They bring many benefits, including the sharing of local intelligence, radio links and a common community purpose to reduce and deter crime. These partnerships can provide a vital link with statutory agencies such as the Police and Fire Services. They exist for different sectors such as the night time economy and different locations, for example city centres or industrial estates.

The licensed trade’s equivalent of Neighbourhood Watch. It is a group of local licensees coming together to set acceptable standards of behaviour for people using their premises and to agree common policies on dealing with the minority that ignore the standards set.
An anti-crime initiative, of the Road Haulage Association and Freight Transport Association in partnership with the police supported by sponsoring companies.

BIDS is a partnership arrangement through which local authorities and the local business community can take forward schemes which will benefit the local community, subject to the agreement of ratepayers. There is a home office toolkit on BIDS.

A new national website that helps businesses prevent and tackle crime has been launched by a Northamptonshire based company in association with the Action Against Business Crime Group and Northants Police.
The Crime Matters website provides specific solutions to a variety of different crimes effecting businesses, such as anti-social behaviour, fraud and violent crime.
Users of this site can access free information on how best to prevent crime and there will be specific links to companies that can provide the most appropriate security measures.
