Vanishing of the Bees

A £10 billion industry on the edge of collapse, a key species on the verge of annihilation.

In 2009, The Co-operative supported the UK cinema release of Vanishing of the Bees, which premiered on 1 October and showed at selected cinemas across the UK.

about the film

Vanishing of the Bees is an eye-opening account of the shocking truth behind the declining bee population.

Vanishing of the Bees explores one of the biggest mysteries currently facing the natural world and examines the calamitous affect that the collapse of the bee population could have on our food supplies.

The film is the second title to be released by The Co-operative and film distributor Dogwoof, whose partnership, announced at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, was established to help socially conscious films reach mainstream cinema audiences.

We believe that film can bring our campaigns to life in a way that other marketing channels perhaps can not. Film can motivate people to take action and drive change, and we hope that the films we support will help mobilise our members and the general public on these issues.
