Plan Bee projects
Through Plan Bee, The Co-operative committed £150,000 for research in 2009 and a further £160,000 in 2010. This may help to explain, or even reverse, the worrying decline in the British bee population.
Details of the projects we are funding can be found below. We will announce details of further research projects at a later date.

hives on allotments
The Co-operative is funding beekeeper training and purchasing starter packs including bee colonies and hives.
mapping native black bees
The native black honeybee, with its better ability to cope with the British weather, could help reverse the dramatic decline in UK honeybee numbers.
