seasonal arable work
join our team for the summer
From July to September each year, Co-operative Farms has a requirement for a large team of seasonal workers to help with harvesting on our farms throughout the UK.
Seasonal work includes activities such as:
- corn carting
- grain store work
- cultivations
- harvesting of fruit and vegetables
- combining and spraying
- general farm work
Training
We provide accommodation on all sites, and all seasonal workers have one week’s induction at our Stoughton Estate in Leicestershire. Here we offer comprehensive training to meet our high operational standards, covering the following key areas:
- Manual Handling
- Emergency first aid
- Health & Safety – training with representatives from HSE
- Farm operations – including environmental awareness, spraying, commodity procedures and documentation
- Cross compliance
- Fork Lift driving – to LANTRA standard (certification available)
- Tractor driving and maintenance
The resulting certification will qualify the student to work on any of Co-operative Farms’ estates for the current year, but must be renewed for future years.
Working with us
Seasonal work at The Co-operative Farms is demanding, with students required to use their initiative and work hard with little supervision. In return, our seasonal workers benefit from the unique experience of working with some of the most modern equipment and gaining valuable skills and experience. Those workers who are graduates in agriculture also have the opportunity to apply for our Graduate Management Programme.
The atmosphere at harvest is sociable and friendly and there is a great community feeling on the sites – many of our workers return year after year to spend the summer with us.
How to apply
