We advise the lead teacher to go to the farm in advance of the visit to familiarise themselves with the farm. A copy of our risk assessment can be sent to you in advance of your visit.
We ask all visitors to the farm to:
• Listen to and follow instructions given by the farm staff
• Wash hands thoroughly before eating
• Follow the country code
Responsibility for children’s behaviour throughout the visit remains with schoolteachers, school support staff and parents.
The farm visit activities are designed primarily for eight and nine year olds. We do welcome younger children, providing sufficient teaching staff accompanies each group.
Clothing
In order to get the most out of their visit, it is important that children wear appropriate clothing. We strongly recommend that all visitors bring Wellington boots, a change of shoes and warm outdoor clothing. Children will be going into fields and shoes will get muddy.
Lunch
Unless otherwise agreed, day groups will need to provide their own packed lunch. As the visit will include food preparation, we require information of any food allergies children have at the time of booking.
Directions
Please make sure that your coach driver has directions to the farm you are visiting- full details are available on request.
