In the 1950’s CWS invested heavily in its dairy business.  The first bulk tank was installed in 1956 to replace milk churns, and co-operative milk floats were a familiar sight on Britain’s streets.

By the late 1950’s / early 1960’s new machines were introduced that could harvest crops.  These early combine harvesters were basic in comparison to today’s standards, but they made a huge difference to the speed and ease of harvesting all cereal crops.

In 1964 the end of a farming era came when the last horse was put out to graze- mechanisation had become the norm.
