Coffee

Our Fairtrade coffee is rich roasted for a fuller flavour
In 1992 The Co-operative became the first major retailer to sell Cafedirect coffee, which went on to become of the UK’s very first Fairtrade brand.
We became the first supermarket to switch our entire own brand range of coffee to Fairtrade.
Ten years later when coffee prices were at a 30-year low, and many farmers could no longer cover the cost of production, we became the first supermarket to switch our entire own brand range of coffee to Fairtrade. Through the Co-operative brand you can enjoy a range of tastes and flavour experiences, safe in the knowledge that the farmers have been paid fairly for the coffee you are drinking.
The Columbian quality

The remote farmers of Columbia supply some of the best quality coffee in the world. In the highest reaches of the Andes Mountains 1200 of these farmers make up the Aguadas Coffee Co-operative, who have supplied our coffee beans since 2003.
The benefits of Fairtrade are visible across the entire Aguadas community; from new farming equipment to a quality assurance laboratory, which ensures that only the very best beans go into The Co-operative brand.
So whatever your preference - from decaf skinny latte to darkly roasted Columbian espresso - make it Fairtrade. It means a fairer price is paid to the producer and doesn’t mean you’re paying over the odds yourself. So it’s fair for everyone.
