Our Fairtrade coffee

First to back Fairtrade coffee
From decaf skinny latte to darkly roasted Fairtrade certified Colombian coffee you can be sure that the coffee you enjoy has been bought at a fair price from those who’ve grown it.
- In 1992 The Co-operative became the first major retailer to sell Cafedirect. This went on to become the UK's very first Fairtrade brand.
- In 2003, when prices were at a 30 year low (meaning farmers could not afford to grow coffee) we switched our entire own brand range to Fairtrade.

The highest quality from the highest places
The remote farmers of Colombia supply some of the best quality coffee in the world. In the highest reaches of the Andes Mountains 1,200 of these farmers make up the Aguadas Coffee co-operative, who have supplied our coffee beans since 2003.
The benefits of Fairtrade are visible across the entire Aguadas community:
- new farming equipment
- rebuilding schools thus stopping them from closure
- helping families remain in their homes by provision of new facilities.
We were the first to make our entire own brand Fairtrade.
