The Luthando Workers Trust in South Africa

The Luthando Workers Trust comprises approximately of 35 permanent workers of the farm Luthando and their spouses bringing the total members to 70.  During the 7-8 month harvesting season, they also employ approximately 80 seasonal workers. 
The Luthando Joint Body has been formed, comprising of representatives of both permanent and seasonal workers.

The Joint Body has launched a number of projects that benefit from Fairtrade premiums, the most significant being a 5-year training programme and training hall and a fully equipped and staffed crèche for children of all staff. Future priorities include a guesthouse to provide income through tourism and a vehicle to transport workers and for general use
