The Co-operative ham

All our Ham, excluding continental ham, is made using British Pork. Again, showing our clear commitment to supporting British pig farmers.

This demonstrates the passion the Co-operative has for British product, guaranteeing the pigs we use are reared to farm assurance standards designed to provide good health and welfare. These farm assurance standards are not matched anywhere else in Europe.

The Co-operative is currently working hard to reduce the salt in hams in-line with government advice. The Co-operative British Wafer Thin Hams can now boast a 30% reduction in Salt. 2010 will see the launch of more reductions across the rest of the ham range

Truly Irresistable Wiltshire Cured Ham

All our Truly Irresistible Ham is made using pork from British pigs born outdoors. These pigs after weaning, are transferred to open, naturally lit barns with straw bedding. All these farms have been inspected and approved by Freedom Foods, to the welfare standards laid down by the RSPCA.

All the pigs used, contain a proportion of the Duroc breed. This traditional breed of black haired pigs, famed for its superior eating quality and taste, has been used for generations in the breeding of pigs to produce high quality pork.
