Our memorials range

For centuries people have created memorials to remember their loved ones.
Memorials take many different forms and some of the options to consider include:
A memorial provides a focus for our personal memories – a place to visit, lay flowers and reflect on happy times.
- Colour
- Shape
- Style and colour of lettering
- Wording
- Type of material, for example granite or marble
- Application of a design or photo plaque
Our skilled craftsmen are all members of the National Association of Memorial Masons (NAMM) which ensures they are experienced in designing and preparing memorials of the highest quality. Find out more about the NAMM here.
If there is a memorial that you would like which isn’t featured on our website, we will be happy to check if our stonemasons can produce it for you.
We can also advise you on other forms of memorial such as planting a tree or sponsoring a commemorative bench.
Designs and inscriptions
Tailor-made memorials in alternative colours and shapes are also available.
The size of the memorial, as well as its design, will determine the number of inscriptions that can be engraved. Our letter cutters will decide upon the best position for a design and inscription, unless you choose otherwise.
Regulations
There are regulations governing the type of memorials that can be erected in a churchyard or cemetery. For example, in some areas you cannot have kerbing around the grave space, and in churchyards, granite, marble, ‘open books’, crosses and gilded letters are not usually permitted.
The size of a memorial is generally governed by the appropriate burial authority and we can check all these regulations for you before you make your final choice.
Memorial masonry prices are based on size, materials, design and lettering. Please contact your local Co-operative Funeralcare funeral home for details.

Additional services
We also offer a range of services for existing memorials.
Additional Inscriptions
At The Co-operative Funeralcare we can add additional inscriptions on to an existing memorial, with costs based upon the lettering type and the number of letters. Please also note that sometimes it may prove difficult to achieve an exact match to existing lettering.
Re-gild, re-paint, re-lead lettering
Sometimes the existing lettering on a memorial needs to be restored due to age or its position, for example it could be located under a tree and have become dirty over the years. The cost to do this will depend on the lettering type and the number of letters in the inscription.
Re-fixing memorials
Our experienced masonry team can re-fix memorials that have become unstable. We do this by re-fixing the memorial into the ground using an extra safe, modern ground anchor system. The cost to re-fix a memorial is dependent on the size.
Memorial cleaning
Cleaning and renovation can make a huge difference to the appearance of existing memorials, and this is another service that is also offered by The Cooperative Funeralcare. The cost for cleaning a memorial is determined by its size and the material it is made of, and our staff will be able to advise you.
If you would like to arrange for work to be carried out on an existing memorial, please
contact your local branch. Our staff are available to discuss these services with you and provide any additional information you may require.
