Changing funeral trends

The Co-operative Funeralcare have conducted the biggest study of funeral customs we believe has ever been carried out in the UK, across our network of over 850 funeral homes and with hundreds of our experienced Funeral Directors.

As the UK's leading Funeral Director, entrusted with around 100,000 funerals each year we believe it's helpful to give people an idea of what families across the UK are doing to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

Our study was based on the experience of hundreds of our dedicated professionals who carry out funerals on a daily basis. The key messages from the research are the following:

  • Funerals across the UK are undergoing a fundamental change.
  • Traditionally viewed as a time for mourning, funerals are now increasingly a celebration of a person’s life.
  • Families we serve are increasingly adding personal touches to arrange unique and uplifting funerals for their loved ones.

Never be afraid to seek advice from your Funeral Director; hundreds of others do! We will never find your request in the least extraordinary. Be reassured that whatever your choices, funerals in the UK today are more varied and more personal than ever before.
