Keeping communities thriving

Good things are happening in communities

In 2013, our stores and brances will act as a focus for 12,000 community initiatives.

We have some 5,000 stores and branches across the UK, and our members ensure that local interests are cosidered.

Read on for a snapshot of how we're keeping communities thriving. From fundraising for our Charity of the Year parter, Carers Trust, to our grants and funding programmes and everything in between.

Funds and foundations

Our Members are a pretty generous lot. We share our profits with them and, in turn, many choose to share their payout with their local community, through The Co-operative Membership Community Fund.

Sports volunteers

Through our partnership with the charity StreetGames, 4,500 young people have trained as sports coaches, so that they can pass their skills on to others in their community.
