Our charity of the year 2013 is Carers Trust and through our family of business we aim to raise £5 million to support 20,000 young adult carers.
Our Members are a pretty generous lot. We share our profits with them and, in turn, many choose to share their payout with their local community, through The Co-operative Membership Community Fund.
Our stores and branches are the focus for 12,000 community initiatives each year and our colleagues are very much at the heart of how we engage with local communities across the UK.

We’re inspiring young people to protect the planet they’ll inherit, from inviting them to pull on their wellies to explore one of our farms, to helping them to skip to school in a Walking Bus.
Through our partnership with the charity StreetGames, 4,500 young people have trained as sports coaches, so that they can pass their skills on to others in their community.
We’re working with seven charities across the UK, to give young people the chance to prove what they are capable of and break down barriers between age groups.
We're one of the UK's largest farmers, currently farming around 50,000 acres of land in England and Scotland – the equivalent of about 25,000 football pitches!
We’re supporting community-owned businesses across the UK, from neighbourhood nurseries, to local pubs, through The Co-operative Enterprise Hub.
We want to give more communities the chance to own, control and benefit from their renewable energy projects, helping to bring about a clean energy revolution with communities at its heart.
