Law Society launches conveyancing quality scheme
Conveyancing 26 Oct 2010

The work of
property solicitors is set to be affected by a new
conveyancing quality scheme (CQS) launched by the Law Society in a bid to ensure firms provide a high standard of service.
People
moving home will be the likely winners of the scheme, which is supported by the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the Building Societies Association and the Association of British Insurers.
The CQS is designed to give house buyers a recognisable quality mark and will only be awarded to
conveyancing firms that provide a high level of service.
Law Society president Linda Lee said: "The accreditation will allow consumers to identify quality
conveyancing practices in a crowded and sometimes confusing market.
"The CQS will give homebuyers an instantly recognisable 'kitemark' highlighting a firm's professional excellence and their commitment to providing a high quality service."
Meanwhile, chancellor George Osborne revealed in last week's comprehensive spending review that the Ministry of Justice budget will fall to £7 billion in four years.
