Conveyancing conference will prepare profession for the future
Conveyancing 03 Nov 2011

The Society of Licensed Conveyancers (SLC) will hold a conference to prepare conveyancers for future regulations in light of the
Legal Services Act.
On November 22nd , conveyancers will have the opportunity to attend a day of discussions and presentations on mortgage fraud, lenders panels, and future regulation in light of the provisions of the Legal Services Act and alternative business structure.
John Clay, chairman of the SLC, told the legal news portal Mortgage Introducers: "The conference will provide an excellent opportunity to share and exchange thought with fellow professionals, as well as gaining vital insights into what lies ahead for the legal profession."
The Legal Services Act will allow non-lawyers to own and run firms offering legal services.
It is hoped that this will bring consumer choice to the sector, in addition to competition and growth.
The full reforms, which were originally drafted in 2007, are set to take effect in January - a year earlier than some feared.
