Moving home advice: House prices fall marginally
Conveyancing 05 May 2011

Those who want advice on
moving home will be pleased to find out that house prices fell slightly last month.
Nationwide revealed that in April the price of properties dropped by 0.2 per cent, with the typical house costing 1.3 per cent less than it did one year ago.
Despite this, house prices have risen slightly since the beginning of 2011.
"The three month on three month measure of house prices, a better measure of the underlying trend, showed a modest rise of 0.6 per cent," Robert Gardner, chief economist at Nationwide, said.
Mr Gardner added that since last summer the housing market has been fairly static, those moving home have been told.
However, good news has been offered to people by Halifax. The company recently discovered that more key staff – such as teachers and nurses – can now afford to buy their own homes, due to higher earnings and lower house prices.
