Moving home advice: How to convert a commercial property for residential use
Conveyancing 28 Jun 2011

Those looking for
moving home advice have been told about the best ways to alter a commercial property for residential use.
The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA) said that people do not know a lot about this type of renovation.
Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the organisation, said: "...Such renovations are not simple undertakings. We advise that a thorough evaluation of the work involved is carried out beforehand to avoid additional cost burdens."
The organisation offered
conveyancing advice, saying that people thinking of buying a commercial property to convert should look at points of access around the building and work out if they can access parking if the building is in s town centre.
They can do this by getting in touch with their local council to speak about parking arrangements and rights of way.
People thinking about this option should also decide if they want to live in an area that will not be exclusively residential.
Those who are looking to buy a property would also be wise to go for a smaller one in a location that is desirable than a larger one in a spot that is not, so that they can get a good resale value for their homes, the NAEA said.
