New mapping system set to half conveyancing costs
Conveyancing 07 Nov 2011
Conveyancing fees are expected to decrease upon the introduction of the first ever electronic mapping tool.
The tool - by SearchFlow's Site Assembly service - is expected to half the cost of assembling paper property plans and will give commercial property lawyers access to all property information electronically.
David Kempster, director of SearchFlow, stated: "[Conveyancing] has relied on making cumbersome manual copies of all necessary information.
"By bringing ... this ... together electronically ... [conveyancing will be brought] into the modern age and [will] bring about a big cost saving."
According to Mr Kempster, the electronic method will allow information to be updated quickly and efficiently, before being passed along to all relevant parties.
It is expected this will make the process cheaper and easier for legal professionals, businesses and clients.
Previously, online mapping was used to allow individuals to access land registry documents via a map interface.
The tools saved research time and the need to submit multiple document requests for the same area.
