Barmaid receives compensation following employment tribunal
Employment 21 Oct 2011

A barmaid from Solihull has received £11,000 in compensation from her former boss following an
employment tribunal.
Mohsien Daneshyar allegedly sexually harassed barmaid Natalie Gibson and wrongly accused her of punching somebody.
Despite denying the allegations, Mr Daneshyar was told to pay compensation to Ms Gibson.
David Kearsley, Birmingham employment tribunal judge, told the Redditch Advertiser: "Mr Daneshyar was inconsistent with his evidence while Miss Gibson gave clear and compelling evidence.
"Miss Gibson's dignity was violated and she was involved in an aggravated and engineered situation."
Sexual harassment is illegal in the UK and employers who engage in sexual harassment will be prosecuted by law.
Employers can also be liable for the actions of their employees that cause offence to other employees at work.
Companies may also be liable for acts committed away from the workplace, especially when the harassment occurs at a worker social occasion outside the work premises.
