Employees set for pay-out following employment tribunal success
Employment 01 Nov 2011

Workers at a Dumfries-based building company who lost their jobs after the firm collapsed are set to receive thousands of pounds, following an
employment tribunal.
When R & D Construction went into administration earlier this year, approximately 200 staff were left without jobs, according to BBC News.
The tribunal found that R & D Construction had failed to comply with labour relations laws and as such the former employees of the firm were entitled to thousands of pounds , in addition to their severance pay.
Harry Frew, of the Union of Construction Allied Trades and Technicians, called the ruling a “good decisions” and a “fair decision” in conversation with the broadcaster.
According to Mr Frew, the tribunal voted in favour of the workers after R & D Construction failed to give a response over the charges.
The slowdown experienced by the construction industry over the last couple of years has led to many firms going into administration and countless workers losing their jobs.
The struggling construction sector had gone into near stagnation, causing fear among both industry experts and economists.
