Employment tribunal may cost Huddersfield Town £275k

Huddersfield Town will have to pay at east £275,000 to sign player Oscar Gobern, it has been announced, following an
employment tribunal launched following his summer transfer from Southampton.
An agreement could not be reached when the 20-year-old was initially transferred in June, leading to a tribunal that has ruled an initial payment of £275,000 needs to be made.
This could in turn rise to as much as £400,000, depending on appearances, resale and other add-ons.
Nigel Clibbens, chief executive of Huddersfield Town, commented: "Although a tribunal is never the ideal situation when it comes to player transfers, we were happy that our submission was acknowledged and thoroughly taken into consideration by the independent panel of four."
Meanwhile, several hundred workers for the local authority in Southampton are set to claim for
unfair dismissal after the council forced through cuts.
According to the Daily Echo, some 500 people will file for employment tribunal cases which could result in a multi-million pound bill for the town's council if successful.
