"Harassed" woman speaks out after employment tribunal
Employment 09 Jun 2011

A woman who won at an
employment tribunal has spoken out about her experience.
Adele Dumas, who formerly managed a charity in Wales' Amman valley, told the South Wales Guardian of her treatment in the workplace.
Ms Dumas said that when she was employed at Black Mountain Community Centre she was harassed and victimised.
She said that she lost her livelihood and that this impacted on her health.
Cardiff Employment Tribunal ruled that Ms Dumas should win her claim for
unfair dismissal after she was told to reapply for a different role at the centre in February 2009.
This was despite Ms Dumas being on a fixed-term contract until March 2012.
At the time of her contract closing, she was not given a right to appeal.
Now she has been given a five-figure sum in compensation, although the exact amount has not been disclosed.
Last year, Paul Smith won his claim for
wrongful dismissal against Stagecoach Scotland after he was hurt in a road accident at work and had to take time off, The Courier reported.
His employers then refused to give him a different role in the company.
