Woman wins employment tribunal hearing
Employment 09 Mar 2011

A woman has been awarded a payout after
compensation lawyers won her case for her at an
employment tribunal.
Maggie Pattinson, a former sales manager with the Recruitment & Employment Confederation, was granted £35,000 after a two-day hearing recognised her
employment rights.
Ms Pattinson went to the employment tribunal to fight an
unfair dismissal claim after she was made redundant in May 2009, alongside six other members of staff from the same company.
It was revealed that newer staff members who covered the same remit as Ms Pattinson did not find their jobs at risk.
In addition, after the claimant's employment was terminated, other jobs that covered some of her responsibilities were created.
While at the firm, meetings about her threatened redundancy were held without her being forewarned and were unstructured.
In another employment case last month Mark Gilbert was awarded a payout from his former boss. This was for the distress he suffered after he stole from the company and was made to wear a placard describing his actions.
