Demand for legal advice 'up' in employment cases
Legal Services 20 Aug 2010

Demand for legal advice has increased in the field of employment-related law, as individuals seek help from compensation solicitors.
The Guardian reports legal referral service Contact Law has seen a 15 per cent increase in those asking for assistance in July compared with the previous month.
Unfair dismissal is one area where many sought the aid of a law professional, which may indicate individuals are becoming more savvy when it comes to their rights in the workplace.
Director of the group Dan Watkins remarked: "We all know about the financial pressures facing Britain's companies, but the next chapter could be the legal issues facing them as more assertive employees look to take legal action."
A recent report in the publication claimed legal aid - whereby some people are able to access the justice system if they cannot afford to pay for a lawyer - is "in tatters" and there will be no rapid solution for the cut-threatened system.
