Expenses for legal services 'covered by insurance for most Brits'

Brits have been told that they could be covered for
legal services if they have the necessary insurance policy.
Malcolm Tarling, a spokesperson for the Association of British Insurers, said that there are two types of legal expenses insurance (LEI) – before the event and after the event.
He added: "After the event insurance is normally taken up by a solicitor, under what is called 'no fee' arrangements, so that if you bring a case and that case is lost, then the insurance will pay any legal costs that you may incur."
Mr Tarling stated that LEI is designed for civil disputes rather than criminal disputes, and the scope of cover can vary depending on the provider and policy.
Which? noted that LEI with car cover usually covers compensation for injury, uninsured losses and damage to the vehicle, while it added that in a recent survey 64 per cent confirmed that they had taken out LEI.
