Father wins free legal help in battle against council

A father will receive the help of free
legal services when he launches a battle against a council in court.
Ishaq Abuzaire is suing Birmingham Council after his daughter Kyra died while in the care of her mother and her mother's partner.
Mr Abuzaire, 38, wants a compensation payout as he believes failings by the council were made before his child died.
A review into the case found that staff from agencies, including social workers, missed several opportunities to save the seven-year-old, who starved in her home.
"Everybody knows there were many errors made in this case, in terms of social services’ failure to investigate vigorously enough what was going on behind closed doors," Khalid Mahmood, MP for Birmingham Perry Bar, told the Daily Mail.
In addition, access to free legal services must continue, the Bar Council said last year. The group spoke out after the release of Lord Young's Common Sense, Common Safety report.
