Free legal advice given to widow

Legal Services 21 Jun 2011

Free legal advice given to widow A Ukrainian woman has been given free legal advice to claim the assets belonging to her dead British husband.

Ganna Zuizina's husband, Barry Pring, died in a hit and run accident when he was in the Ukraine with his wife in 2008 and is said to have been worth £1.5 million.

Shaughan Pring, the brother of the deceased, said: "His widow has been given legal aid in the UK to come over here to claim my brother's assets. It is ludicrous and outrageous."

The family of Mr Pring have claimed that his death was not an accident, while Ms Zuizina has denied being involved in his demise.

Mr Pring was struck by a car on a road near Kiev while he was waiting for a taxi, after having a meal with his wife, whom he met on the internet.

Currently, the Ukranian police are investigating the incident and Mr Pring's constituency MP, Neil Parrish, has said that the British government should make sure that this investigation is conducted properly.

This case shows the importance of making a will, which has also been stressed by personal finance expert Paul Farrow, who wrote for the Daily Telegraph that everyone must have this document.
