Free legal advice needed to fight NotW
Legal Services 08 Jul 2011

The recent accusations that investigators working on behalf of the News of the World (NotW) had tapped phones has prompted one commentator to talk about the importance of
free legal advice.
Jonny Mulligan, of the Sound Off For Justice campaign, wrote for Leftfootforward.org that it was debatable if there is a point to an inquiry into the claims if the victims of it are unable to access justice.
He said: "How will they afford the cost of taking NotW to a civil court? The prime minster and MPs from all sides must now ensure these victims have the means to fight any cases they might want to take as a result of theses inquiries."
Mr Mulligan also asked if the victims of the claims would be able to represent themselves in court against News International if they were not entitled to free
legal advice.
Sound Off For Justice recently started a Let Them Eat Cake! Tea party outside parliament, where supporters massed to protest government cuts.
