Several hundred workers for the local authority in Southampton are set to claim for
unfair dismissal after the council forced through cuts.
According to the Daily Echo, some 500 people will file for
employment tribunal cases which will result in a multi-million pound bill for Southampton Council if they are successful.
Over 2,000 workers are already on strike over pay cuts of between two per cent and 5.5 per cent, which have been made mandatory by the authority
A council spokesman said: "The council is confident that all necessary procedures and consultation was carried out in the correct manner and we will challenge any claim in court and through the correct channels."
Another unfair dismissal claim against Lambeth Council was recently won by a south London headteacher who said that he was forced out of his position from Henry Fawcett Primary School in Kennington in November 2008.
