Accident victim wins £4,700 after being crushed by scaffolding

Personal Injury 06 Sep 2010

Accident victim wins £4,700 after being crushed by scaffolding An accident victim has secured £4,700 in compensation after she was crushed by falling scaffolding while carrying her baby daughter in her arms.

The Wiltshire Times reveals the collapsing building materials flattened the child's pushchair and struck Sharlene McKenna, also causing head injuries to the family dog.

As well as paying for medical bills, the accident compensation may go some way to making up for the mental distress experienced by the family.

Miss McKenna's partner, 38-year-old Ben Payne, remembers: "It was a terrible experience for all of us," adding: "Sharlene was taken off in the ambulance and I was left coping with hysterical children and an injured dog."

A serious accident involving scaffolding led to Crowe Fabrications being fined £30,000 and ordered to pay costs of £12,000 after an ill-constructed rig fell approximately 60 feet, killing one worker and seriously injuring another.

This is indicative of the dangers associated with the building system and suggests personal injury compensation for related accidents may be a common occurrence. ADNFCR-3248-ID-800053925-ADNFCR
