Association of Personal Injury Lawyers: Lord Young's report potentially dangerous
Personal Injury 05 Oct 2010

The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers has challenged a report into the so-called health and safety culture by Conservative Party member Lord Young of Graffham.
Representing compensation solicitors and those who help people hurt in accidents that were not their fault, the group argues the study - which is expected to be damning of
no-win-no-fee cases and similar
personal injury claims - will create a "culture of carelessness and injury".
President Muiris Lyons claimed the peer is "in danger of turning the myth into a reality", warning dismissal of health and safety laws would leave Britons vulnerable to others' irresponsibility and failure to protect those in need.
Personal injury lawyers currently work on cases such as
car accidents and
medical negligence, with the compensation awarded used to cover expenses like hospital bills and sick leave.
Mr Lyons noted "accidents happen", saying in these cases blame is not unfairly apportioned, but stressing the importance of bringing to justice those who cause "needless injury".
