Lord Young 'misinterprets' personal injury data

Personal Injury 21 Oct 2010

The recent Common Sense, Common Safety report misinterpreted data and does not take account of real-life trends in accident compensation, it has been claimed. Personal injury statistics were misinterpreted in Lord Young of Graffham's report Common Sense, Common Safety, it has been claimed.

The Motor Accident Solicitors Society (MASS) revealed the study does not acknowledge the fact personal injury claims relating to health and safety are declining, with only road incident compensation on the rise, reports Post Online.

This indicates most personal injury cases tackled by lawyers are likely to be of a serious nature, contradicting Lord Young's implication that some claims are spurious.

MASS chairman John Spencer noted government statistics show employers' and public liability claims have dropped in the last nine years, meaning referral fees have not pushed up personal injury cases.

Published on October 15th, the report examined issues such as consent for school activities and made recommendations regarding the Road Traffic Accident Personal Injury Scheme, which may be extended to incorporate other claims stemming from incidents that were not the victim's fault.  ADNFCR-3248-ID-800135810-ADNFCR
