A personal injury claim has been won by Malcolm Tuffin of Great Baddow, after he was crushed by a falling Christmas tree seven years ago.
The Essex Chronicle reports the victim was holidaying in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic, when the 101-ft festive decoration came loose in high winds and fell, hitting four other individuals at the same time.
Mr Tuffin's personal injury claim has led to a payout of £35,000, raised from an initial £15,000 after the Czech Supreme Court ruled the local authority and market company were responsible as the tree had not been properly secured.
Girlfriend Sue Doube reveals: "He needed constant attention for months … I was able to look after him by getting leave of absence from Pontlands Park where I worked then."
Earlier this month, a personal injury claim stemming from a serious car accident resulted in £3.5 million compensation for the victim, after a car driven by her former boyfriend left the road due to a dangerous overtaking procedure.
