Medical negligence claimant wins £2m

Personal Injury 14 Oct 2010

The victim of medical negligence has won £2 million personal injury damages after a hospital failed to correctly diagnose and treat his condition. Medical negligence led to a Cambridgeshire man being paid £2 million in personal injury compensation.

Neal Allen, 42, suffered from severe brain damage after Addenbrooke's Hospital failed to diagnose an abscess, despite the fact the victim was known to be suffering from a condition that left him prone to such episodes.

The medical negligence compensation will go towards paying for Mr Allen's care needs, as he is now unable to live alone and requires assistance for around 15 hours a day.

No longer able to maintain his previous job, the victim's claim should also provide recompense for loss of wages and the difficulties he has to endure.

Admitted to hospital in May 2003, Mr Allen gave staff his medic alert card warning healthcare professionals of his condition.

Additionally, the paramedics who dealt with the victim had made a note of the fact he was prone to cerebral abscesses, a factor likely to have counted against the hospital when the case came to trial.  ADNFCR-3248-ID-800116853-ADNFCR
