Accident Solicitors Society (Mass) has urged Lord Young to put consumers at the heart of the current review of health and safety law in the UK.
Chairman John Spencer has urged the Conservative peer to ensure legal costs are not cut at the expense of clients, warning access to independent advice should not be jeopardised, the Post Online reports.
"When it comes to providing
legal services to the victim who has sustained a personal injury, Mass believes there should be equality amongst all parties engaged in this practice," he observed.
Many expect the report to recommend a scaling back of the provisions in place to provide Britons with access to
personal injury solicitors regardless of their financial circumstances.
The Association of Personal Injury Lawyers claims the review could potentially create a dangerous culture, where due care and attention is not taken and vulnerable members of society are put at risk.
