Motor accident claims 'rise during cold snap'
Personal Injury 21 Dec 2010

The number of
motor accident claims made by Britons rises sharply during a period of sustained cold weather, such as the one currently engulfing the country, it has been claimed.
Co-operative Insurance says individuals are wise to take extra precautions to protect themselves and their vehicles against the elements at times like these.
It recently experienced one of its busiest weekends for motor accident claims as snow and ice took a hold of the UK's roads.
"Our figures show that the cold weather is having a real impact on motorists right across the country and we have seen a 40 per cent uplift in claims over the last weekend," explains David Neave, director of general insurance at the company.
He adds people should endeavour to carry items such as warm clothes and an emergency kit in their vehicles, while responsible driving is a must.
Wales on Sunday recently reported on a legal firm winning almost £13,000 for one personal injury case related to the Arctic conditions.
