A personal injury claimant has won £850,000 in compensation after a car accident that left him unable to walk and killed his little sister.
Aged five at the time, James Gardner is writing a book about his experiences of learning to be mobile again and is to donate all the proceeds to Vranch House, an Exeter-based school for disabled children that taught him how to walk again, reports the Express and Echo.
Personal injury lawyers were likely to have been involved in the compensation payout, which should have contributed towards paying medical bills and costs associated with the car accident.
Entitled On The Edge - Stepping Back from the Brink of Suicide, Mr Gardner, now 24, says the work is an autobiography that chronicles his depression and desire to take his own life at his lowest points.
The victim reveals Kabbalah - a religion practised by a number of celebrities, including Madonna and Victoria Beckham - has been one of his greatest inspirations.
