Personal injury claims see councils pay for ice falls

Personal
injury claims related to slipping on icy surfaces have resulted in numerous payouts over the past two years, it has emerged.
The largest amount won by
compensation lawyers was slightly less than £13,000, levied on the local authority of Denbighshire, Wales on Sunday reveals.
Current artic conditions could see personal injury cases rise across Britain, as many car breakdown services have reported a signficiant surge in the number of incidents, while some councils are warning against all non-essential travel.
Five
accident compensation claims were paid out by Welsh authorities over the timeframe in question, with 27 outstanding that may also result in substantial reparations.
Advice on winter driving from the RAC urges Britons to "drive slowly and think ahead", noting longer-than-normal stopping distances mean it is important to leave lots of room between vehicles.
Skidding - one of the primary causes of car accidents that can lead to compensation - can be avoided by maintaining low speed, the breakdown service advises.
