Personal injury compensation of £2.25m paid to school children
Personal Injury 29 Sep 2010

Personal injury compensation amounting to £2.25 million was paid to by local authorities to children hurt in school incidents.
Accident claims are not just for road collisions and this figure shows it, with one of the largest payouts going to a pupil who suffered burns after sitting on a radiator, later awarded damages of almost £30,000.
The Metro reports John Ransford of the Local Government Association stated legitimate claims mean young people are entitled to compensation, which could be used to pay for medical costs or lifestyle changes that have to be made as a result of an incident that was not their fault.
Around 400 children made requests for reparation and personal injury solicitors could have helped them argue their case in the courts.
Other accidents included an individual who was compensated £3,275 after being hit in the eye while using sports equipment and one who was awarded £1,000 due to a burn sustained from school equipment.
