Personal injury compensation worth "tens of thousands" for man hurt at work?
Personal Injury 14 Sep 2010

Personal injury compensation worth "tens of thousands" could be paid to a man blinded through an accident in the workplace, it has been reported.
Mahendra Dhoju lost the sight in one eye and his sense of smell after he was hit on the head by falling stock at a Londis in Barnes, London, reveals the Richmond and Twickenham Times.
As well as possible personal injury compensation, part-owner Kishor Chandegra, 46, was fined £17,000 and almost £6,000 in costs by Richmond Magistrates Court, as he was health and safety officer in the shop at the time.
Councillor Virginia Morris, the council's cabinet member for the environment, noted: "The injuries Mr Dhoju suffered will affect him for the rest of his life and I am pleased to see the court has taken this as seriously as the council does."
Some believe health and safety legislation has become too restrictive and Lord Young of Graffham has been asked to review the laws to see if they can be loosened, which may affect individuals' ability to claim compensation.
