Personal injury solicitors' ads 'inform people of their rights'

Personal injury solicitors' ads are being defended by the National Accident Helpline, which argues the resource informs people about their rights when they have been injured in a road collision or similar event that was not their fault.
Compensation claims can help individuals cover medical costs or time taken off work following an incident and no-win-no-fee lawyers may be key in ensuring access to justice for all.
Chief executive of the group Sam Porteous argues: "The value of advertising to consumers who otherwise wouldn't be aware of their legal rights or find the legal system intimidating is enormous."
The personal injury expert adds only valid claims are passed on to qualified solicitors, potentially saving time and resources by ensuring courts do not see spurious reparation cases.
Lord Young of Graffham was asked to investigate the merits of legal aid for personal injury cases and it is expected his findings will paint a critical view of the current situation.
