Schools face myriad personal injury claims

Personal
injury claims may be more often associated with work accidents or incidents on the road, but new data shows educational establishments are also subject to the legal cases.
In Lincolnshire, a personal
injury compensation payout of £14,000 was awarded to a victim who hurt themselves using school equipment, with the Lincolnshire Echo reporting 16 such claims have been made in the past five years.
Accident solicitor Richard Harwood notes people do hurt themselves and not all incidents lead to compensation, but certain circumstances - for example, where a duty of care has been foregone - merit reparations.
"What is key is whether the injury occurred because someone did something wrong or failed to take action when they should have done," he states.
A recent
accident compensation case led to a payment of £2.5 million for a pupil who was hurt at school after falling on a paintbrush that entered his eye and caused brain damage.
