Soldier wins accident claim
Personal Injury 21 Jan 2011

The MoD paid
100% compensation to Sergeant Stuart Pearson after he lost one of his legs while trying to save a wounded colleague from a minefield.
This week the High Court awarded Sergeant Pearson, 35, the
accident compensation as damages for the suffering and pain he had experienced as a result of the incident in Helmand Province, Afghanistan in 2006.
An
injury lawyer also successfully persuaded the court to rule that the MoD will pay Sergeant Pearson £270,000 to cover his care in the future and £600,000 for prosthetic limbs.
He had previously launched a negligence claim against the MoD, charging the body with a 'breach of duty'.
The mission Sergeant Pearson was involved in was criticised for a number of failings in a 2008 inquest.
In a case last year, three soldiers won £300,000 personal
injury compensation each from the MoD after they were badly injured in a 2007 helicopter crash.
