Teacher wins £1.9m accident compensation

Personal Injury 20 Oct 2010

Accident compensation worth almost £2 million has been paid to a teacher who suffered brain damage when a bus crashed on a school outing. Accident compensation to the tune of £1.9 million has been awarded to a former teacher who sustained severe head injuries when a bus overturned during a school skiing trip.

The Shropshire Star reports Gary Bishop's personality was changed by the wounds he received, which left him unable to continue his career after the vehicle hit ice on a French road in January 2007.

Mr Bishop's personal injury solicitor stated: "The effects of his injuries continue to have a significant impact on his day-to-day life," a factor taken into account when the judge awarded him accident compensation.

A new record was recently set in personal injury claims when 20-year-old Chrissie Johnson was granted £17.5 million in reparations following a car accident that left her paralysed and in need of 24-hour care.

Such payments cover expenses like medical bills, as well as changes that may have to be made in the lives of victims and their carers following an accident that was not their fault.  ADNFCR-3248-ID-800127690-ADNFCR
