Victim wins road accident compensation from council
Personal Injury 01 Nov 2010

A woman has won road
accident compensation from a local authority in a case that took six years to reach a successful conclusion.
The victim was hit by a taxi as she crossed a road and was originally told she was not entitled to personal injury reparations following a ruling saying she was at fault for the incident, OnlyFinance.com reports.
But the judges in the most recent hearing decided she was eligible for road
accident compensation due to negligence on the part of the local council.
Failure to cut back nearby bushes meant the woman's vision was obscured and she was unable to cross the street in safety, meaning the authority is liable for the personal
injury claim.
Lord Young, author of the recent Common Sense, Common Safety report, has noted sensationalised news of large
accident compensation payouts risked undermining genuine personal injury cases, a factor that could lead to individuals not receiving the support they need if they were hurt in an incident that was not their fault.
